Inspired by the long history of textile protest art, Good Law Project worked with two trans co–creative directors, CN Lester and Mars Callick, to create a giant, collaborative patchwork quilt.

Good Law Project distributed over 300 patches around the UK, which were painted, sewn and appliquéd by the trans community. The unique art piece depicts a broad representation of trans life, from memorials to inside jokes and family celebrations. It is a vast display of shared joy, despair, creativity and resilience, and proud existence of the community despite the transphobia and hate we face.

The quilt was created by trans people and their loved ones from across the country. It is the product of many hours of work in community centres, social and support groups and homes.

On July 25th, volunteers will march this patchwork banner through the capital at London Trans+ Pride – a celebration of shared resistance to hatred, division, and erasure.

After the march, the quilt will be held in the Bishopsgate Archives, will be displayed in panels at pride events around the country, and is bookmarked to appear in larger exhibits over the next year.
